WEEK 12: BAGUA GRANDE

December 25, 2018
Today was Christmassssssss and it was such a good day. We woke up and everyone was so hype, and we played Uno for days. It was such a good morning. Then we Facetimed the familyyyyyy. That was so good, I feel so good about it. I thought I was gonna be all sad and stuff after but it was so sick to talk to everyone. I miss y'all so much, but it was so good to talk to you and see that nothing is changing at home... I hope y'all had a really great Christmas, because we were so hype here.

Two nights ago we rode to Chiclayo on a night bus, a buscama, and that was pretty good. We played Uno on the bus by using some Elders' pillow with a notebook on it and a flip phone for light because the bus was dark so people could sleep. We play so much Uno here, and people get way hyped when playing. Elder Moran is a G in uno, and he can shuffle the entire big deck like a casino dude, so we play uno so much. Oh, and Elder Moran was so excited to see y'all playing Monopoly cards too, he loves that game. Man I miss everyone, and I feel like I didn't talk to my brukkas enough. Gabe, I love you buddy, and Blake too. Love you Sam, and it was so good to see y'all. Mama, thanks so much for letting Kim come, and literally I can't thank you enough for all of the stuff you send me. I have soooooo much stuff thanks to you, and I love it. It's like geez mom chillout ahahahahhaahah.. no its amazing. After our Facetime I wasn't sad, I love y'all so much and that was sick, but we gotta get back to work. We just heard that one lady that was gonna get baptized was drinking on Christmas, so that's not good. But we have so much work to do.

Last night we went to President's house and had a huuuuge party and we had ceviche with milk that was spicy, and octopus and shrimp that was sooooo good in a super weird way. Peruvians are straight up weird honestly, but it was pretty good. We changed gifts or whatever like a Secret Santa deal and I got a slingshot and a little weird Santa picture holder thing, so I got it good. The video y'all sent was so funny ahahahahahaah, and I knew y'all had a script and everything ahahahaha and you reshot the video like 5 times ahahahahah. But thanks for everything. Love  you all so much, and I hope everyone had a good Christmas. We got back to Bagua Grande, and its like home sweet home. I missed our dirt floor and our bamboo walls, nah just kidding our rooms are pretty nice. I just wanna work now and get baptizing people and our call today only made me me feel way good. Thanks y'all for everything, and thanks, mama, love you so much, Merry Christmass!!!!!!!

Today was a really good day. We got back to work, and it really feels so good to work all day and not be wasting time. We found a bunch of new investigators this morning. We found this older couple that were really receptive to the restoration of  the gospel, and we were gonna give them a folletto, or a pamphlet I think its called, but neither of them knew how to read. So we showed them pictures since we couldn't really give them a Book of Mormon. We taught them both how to pray, because they go to this Nazarene church, and they memorize prayers. They were both so sad that they didn't know how to pray because they hadn't memorized the prayers, and we said its literally talking to God, say whatever you want, and they were pretty happy about that. That's really all we're doing here, is showing people the way to get closer to God, and how to be happy.

We had some bad news, Hermana Herlinda is quitting from the pensionista business, which is sad because she makes the best food. We live right next to her, so we are going to find a new room with windows.

December 27, 2018
Today was a really good day because we confirmed this Saturday with all 6 of the people that are gonna be baptized this week. The people here have reallllly long names, and the little girl I'm baptizing is named Jerica Junsu Perales Solano. I have to memorize the baptism prayer in Spanish, and her name too ahahahaha. Today was such a good day, I love the days that we're working hard, and the Lord blesses us with so much stuff. It was a miracle that we got all 6 of our baptisms in order today, because the family of Imelda lives 20 minutes from the city, and we confirmed that she and all her children would be baptized. Hermana Deysi and Felicia were super lucky too, because it's Thursday and we need to do their interviews. Today was the perfect day for all of them. The Lord is blessing us. Love you all.

December 28, 2018
Today was a good day, I think the monsoon season is over here because its so hot again. Felicia, one of our baptisms isn't sure she wants to be baptized anymore because her kids were like ohh you dont have that much time in the church, and ohh you can get baptized later. So we said Hermana, pray about it and if you come in the morning, you come, and if you don't you don't. But we're praying for her, and we'll see what happens.

Bagua really is beautiful, and I love being here with the palm trees and the green everywhere. I don't want to go to Chiclayo because it's really just dirt and buildings and garbage. But I'll go wherever I'm supposed to, I have been wayyyyy blessed to be here in Bagua. Love you all and tomorrow, I have my first baptism.

December 29, 2018
Well today I didn't have my first baptism, ahahahahh... We had 6 baptisms lined up and every single person dropped out. We filled up the font in the morning, which is a canvas bowl, and it is pretty annoying and kind of sad because we're not going to reach our goal this month, but all is well. We have a bunch of really good people lined up for January. Also, we looked for so many people today, and found about 3 really good families. So maybe it's a good thing that we had a let down this morning so that we could bounce back in the afternoon. We set a bunch of new goals, and we are working harder than ever. Also, tomorrow we get to hear if there are going to be any changes in the zone, because our first transfer is already done. This mission is flying by for some reason, but I have so much left to go. I hope Elder Moran and I stay here in Bagua because we have so many people lined up for baptism, and I love them all. We are out here working hard, love you all.
