WEEK 26: PIMENTEL

April 3, 2019
Today we went to Chiclayo because I had to go do some stuff for migrations. I went to the same migrations five months ago, and the difference in my language ability was crazy. I understand and speak so much Spanish now, and it's all thanks to God. Migrations lasted almost all day, and it was terrible. We had to watch these safety videos too, and honestly I feel like some of the rules don't apply here. One of those rules is you can't ride in the back of a truck, but in Bagua Grande we rode on the back of Moto taxis on the freeway because that's the only thing they have out there.

The work is going good here. I'm finding that it's so important to listen to the people, and not only listen to their words, but to their spirit and their actions, what they like, and everything. The mission is amazing and I love the people I serve with and the people we teach.

We went up to Pimentel for most of the day. We found some good people to teach, and we are trying to get to know all of the members so we can find more references.

Life is good in the mission. I see the Lord's hand in His work all of the time. I see people really searching for something more, because they know something is missing. I see people that have money and they think they don't need God, but I know that God is everything. All things denote that there is a God, and I know that He lives. I don't understand a lot of things, but I've felt the Spirit work through me, and I love this mission.

Today was a pretty good day, we have this new investigator named Gabriela, and she's amazing. She came up to us in church the other day and told us "I want to get baptized, can you guys give me the discussions?" Her significant other is a member, but they need to get married for her to get baptized. She is so amazing and she already has a testimony, and I see it growing already.

I actually am way hyped to see President Nelson speak tomorrow. I don't know if I've ever been really excited for a General Conference before.

Today was the first part of Conference and it was really good. I learned a lot of good stuff, and it was all in Spanish. All of the talks had an overtone of missionary work, and also of families, it's pretty great. I love being a missionary, but when the Prophet talks about families, I want to start my own. Everyone's saying that they are going to change the duration of the mission from 2 years to 18 month, but I think that's stupid, honestly. I think it's just those rumors that people always spread. Guess we'll see tomorrow, but I don't think so, I'm calling it.
