WEEK 27: PIMENTEL
April 8, 2019
Today was a good p-day. We played soccer, but without the Sisters this time, so we played way harder. Futbol is actually pretty easy, I just get goals all day. But yeah, we didn't really do anything else all day.
We went to a couple of houses and all of our lessons fell through. So we helped the Monja family move some couches, and they gave us a Pepsi to drink. It has been about five months since I've had a Pepsi, and it was so good. Well, while we were moving all of their stuff out of the house, Elder De La Cruz was carrying their flat screen TV, and he totally dropped it on the corner so hard. When we were in the new house with their son, we taped up the corner and it worked fine. But oh my, when he dropped it we were all dead, crying laughing, like ohhh are you kidding me, because he was just joking saying "oh it would be so bad if I dropped it..." and he literally dropped it four seconds later. Oh my.
But, life goes on and my faith is growing. God always gives us the miracle after the trial of our faith. Sometimes faith is really easy to have. But sometimes the trial of our faith pushes us past the point where we think we can last, but at the second when you don't think you can keep your faith up, the Lord shows you a miracle. I believe God doesn't test us for nothing. He just wants to see how much faith we have, and I hope I show enough faith through my trials and hardships. Sometimes we really don't have enough faith to do these things, so we need to ask God for it. I know He's helped me and shown me some miracles, and for this, I know He lives.

So today Elder De La Cruz didn't break anything, so that was good. Well, it's because he didn't carry any TV's, but the work is good and getting better. We have four more people to teach, and we have a ton of other potentials. Having people to teach makes the work so much fun, it's so good. We are teaching one lady that is just amazing. Sometimes the Lord helps you teach people and He helps them understand, and sometimes He just gives you the amazing opportunity to teach someone that has been so prepared. Someone that has so much of the Light of Christ in them already.

Today was a good day, even though all of our lessons fell through. We helped the Monja's finish moving into their house.
The work is good, and I'm seeing myself grow a lot, in my Spanish speaking, and in the way I'm teaching these people. We just need to find more people to teach. I love teaching and helping other people progress, but it's kind of sad when the people aren't there or they just don't get it. But, I love this work and I know it's the best thing in the world at this moment.

Today we had a Multi-Zona, and Presidente Balderrama is amazing. This mission is amazing, and I feel how much closer I am to God. I'm learning things I never knew about God, Jesus Christ, and about faith. A couple of days ago I finished six months in the mission, time goes by so fast. I love my family and I love my girlfriend, but I really just want to work in the mission.
Today I felt a crazy big love for the people here. I really feel like I knew some of these people in the pre-mortal life, and I feel like they're some of my best friends. It's hard to explain this feeling of peace and love, but it's amazing. In the Multi-Zona, Presidente was talking about our lives, he always teaches us things to help us in the mission, but also for the things we are going to do after. I feel like every conference I'm in, I hear so much about our families. For as long as I can remember I wanted to have a family, and I still want that, an Eternal Family. A wife and some kids, that would be it for me. Presidente Balderrama told us his whole life story, about him and his wife, how they got married and bought a tiny house without a floor, and got through life. They built a company and made more money, but they kept the tiny house and built a mansion on it because they couldn't let it go. I want something like that, but I know I'm still learning about how to make that happen.
I love this work and I love the people, and I know God will bless my future life for it.

Today we contacted sooo many people. The Spirit is really guiding us here, and it's so obvious to see sometimes. There will be a person walking on the street and I ask myself, does this person need the Gospel? And so I always talk to them, and we find so many amazing people in our area. There are seven different cities in our area, but there's three main ones. Fonavi, La Ensenada, and Pimentel, and each city has its own 'god of missionary work' in the ward to help us. The 'god' of Fonavi is Hermana Paola Monja. She always comes with us to visit people, and she's like 65, so she knows every single thing about everyone in the whole city. All of the 'gods of missionary work' are old grandmas, but they are amazing. There are 'twin gods' in the Ensenada, Hermana Reyna and Hermana Marionela. Reyna's pretty much blind, but she walks pretty well, and Marionela has her sight but she doesn't walk very well, so they are always together. They know all the gossip that's ever happened, and they know all of the best references. Hermana Marionela is the classic grandma too, she literally always has food ready for us to eat, and every time we try to teach her she's shoving food down our throats, it's literally so funny. She aways has cookies or sandwiches, or today was Jello, but it's the best. Pimentel doesn't really have a 'god of missionary work' but we are working on that.
I love this place, and the work here is getting better, we are finding more people to teach.
