WEEK 28: PIMENTEL

April 15, 2019
Today was a good p-day. We played futbol, and I forgot to cut my hair. We cleaned our room really good, but other than that, yeah it was a normal p-day. It was good to talk to you all today, but then all of our lessons fell through. But we are trying to work hard.

Today we had consejo de Distrito, and it went pretty good. We have to go to Chiclayo in Combi and it takes us like 45 minutes, so that kind of takes out our day. But we were able to teach some decent lessons today. I almost forgot how it was to teach people. I love helping other people understand the gospel. It was a good day. All is good, and I am so happy to be out here.

This morning we had literally nothing to do and nobody was home, so we followed this random path through these fields for such a long time. Eventually we found a little village and we started contacting houses there. It turns out every single person that lived in this little village was part of this huge family. They were all cousins or brother-in-laws or nephews, literally all of them, so we were just meeting new members of the family. It turns out they are all part of the Family Sanchez, and we met the Great-Grandmother of all of them, and she was ancient. But we are meeting a ton of this family and honestly we are going to make a branch there. It was crazy to find this village, it wasn't even on our map. So some really good things happened today - the Spirit told me to go back and knock on this door that we passed, and there was this awesome lady that needs a lot of help in life. I love this mission.

Today was a good day, we walked so much but found this really good family that really wants to learn about the gospel. There used to be a couple of sister missionaries here in Pimentel, but they were taken out because nothing was really happening here. So we are out here teaching all of their people now. We found this crazy good family today too. We stopped by this hamburger stand about a week ago, and we always contact the people we buy food from, so we went back to buy more hamburgers, and we're just talking to the lady there when she became very interested in learning more about the Church. It was sick to see that sometimes being a normal person and being sincerely interested in people's lives is missionary work too.

Yeah today was a good day, but we got to sleep.

April 20, 2019
Today we went out to the Sanchez village again, but I guess Saturday is washing day, as all of the women of the village were out hand washing clothes, and they were all super annoyed. But we found some good people to talk to. Sometimes people get wrapped up in the 'deep' doctrine or things that don't really matter, like if Jesus had a wife, or how Mary was able to conceive Jesus. But I have always been happy with my simple testimony which is that this Gospel brings the most happiness than all other things in the world. I love sharing that with people. Sometimes the world is crazy, but the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His teachings are true and simple. That is my TED talk for today.

Today we had this really great family come to Church. The mother's name is Julie, the daughters are Yajayra and Natsumi, and a son named Angelo. They have the hamburger stand I mentioned a few days ago, and we found them when we stopped to eat burgers. We contacted Julie, and honestly I felt something really different about her. We went back to their stand to eat and she was super excited about the church, and she really wants to change her life. She showed up to Church today with all of her kids, and then we went to her house today as well. We had a lesson with her, with a couple of members, to see how she was feeling about things. It turns out she is having a really hard time, and she was telling us how she wanted to feel like she wasn't alone in the world, and wanted to know if God was there. Honestly I had a hard time getting through that lesson without crying. I felt a crazy love for Julie, like I knew her before, her personality and everything. She was raised in Japan, and now she lives in Pimentel. She's having a lot of problems with her family and honestly I felt like she was a part of my family, like a sister or an aunt or something. That was a crazy experience for me.

We also had a lesson with Rogue, who is this huge black man with white hair and a sick mustache, and he is going to get baptized soon. Rogue had to watch this construction site for his friend, so we went and taught him there.

Also, I gave a talk in church today for Easter. I love this mission.
