WEEK 29: PIMENTEL
April 22, 2019
Today was such a good day. I was going to cut my hair, but we ran out of time. It was good to talk to the fam today, and proselyting later went great. We taught some good lessons and gave four invitations to baptism. We usually try for about two a day, but God blessed us with opportunities to invite others. All I feel in this mission is happiness, but also stress and concern for my people out here. I don't think I have ever felt stress before, but I'm trying to help people. I see that there is a difference in the people we teach. All people are given a light, and the Lord is helping me recognize the change in that light. Like today, we have been teaching this family, and there's this 19 year old girl named Ariana, and she didn't have that light before, she was in a dark place. We taught her to pray, and she has been praying and reading the Book of Mormon, and when we saw her today, she had a different light about her. It was a crazy difference. Stuff like this really happens.

Today was a great day. We had District council this morning, and Elder De La Cruz did well, he has led some really good meetings lately. I've seen a huge change in my companion this last week, and it actually makes me really happy that he is starting to work harder. Our Consejo de Distrito left me super pumped, and I felt really guided by the Lord today. Sometimes you just are prompted to say all the right things, and you know it really all comes from God. Honestly we've been in apostasia this week with getting home on time, because we are just working hard day and night.

Elder De La Cruz is trying to put matches in his mouth because I showed him that trick when you put a match in your mouth to put it out, and life is good.
Today we had some really good lessons, but also, nobody was home. We had a great lesson with Julie and her family, I really think they're different. They have really been prepared to hear the message.
I actually love the Spanish language, and I think I am going to be fluent someday. Sometimes it's crazy when you're talking in a lesson, and you have no idea what you're saying because the Lord is working through you and you say exactly what the person needs to hear from the Spirit. I love this work, and I am so tired.

Today literally nobody was home, but that meant we had a lot of time to contact. So we made about 500 contacts, and hopefully we have more lessons tomorrow. I like contacting and meeting new people. It is way fun knocking on doors because you never know who it's going to be, and how you're going to adapt to the situation to make it a spiritual and friendly environment.
I love this work. There are so many other things in the world I could be doing, but I know that this is the right place for me right now.

Our pensionista's husband's name is Edwin Diaz, and he's the first counselor in the bishopric. He was in the policia and he's so funny. Whenever we're eating, he always talks about the government in Peru and the problems in the ward. But he's great.
We had a couple more lessons today that were pretty good. This evening we were passing by Julie's house, and they were moving a bunch of things around to make a little shop out of their living room. Her husband has left every time we come over, but we helped them move their furniture and stuff, and he was so happy and finally talking to us tonight. This mission is great, and I know I am supposed to be here.

Today was a good day. Elder De La Cruz got the closest he's ever been to a cow. Before this area, he had never seen a cow in his life, and he was so afraid to get near it.
We had some good lessons today. Every single time we go to Marionela's house, she gives us food. She's this little grandma lady, and any time of the day she'll give us food. It'll be all prepared already, and she'll just pull it out of nowhere, jello, sandwiches and everything.
Today we had a lesson with Julie and Jahaira, and it was so good. I was doing magic tricks that I learned in the mission and they were all dying, literally dying, laughing. That's going to be one of the better memories of this mission for me.
