WEEK 31: PIMENTEL

May 8, 2019
If I'm being honest, we have been getting home really late almost everyday this week because we have been working so hard. A couple of days ago I talked to Elder De La Cruz about what we were going to do different this cambia, and I don't care if he's not going to do anything, we have work to do. So today he was actually working pretty good. We invited a ton of people to baptism today, and Carlos Capitan finally said yes to a baptism date, and the Spirit was so strong. We had a crazy powerful lesson, and I felt the Spirit working through me to teach him. We invited him, and he accepted. It is amazing to see how the Spirit works in people to help them progress. We just working out here.

Today was a good day. Almost nobody was home today, so that's pretty terrible. But it turned out good. We went with Hermano Segundo to visit people, and still nobody was home, but we eventually found Rogue and was able to teach him a lesson. We also taught Julie and Jahaira, and during that lesson, Elder De La Cruz went off on some random thing about baby baptisms, out of nowhere, and I was thinking nooooo, what are you doing? This isn't what they need, and then I was praying for a chance to turn it around into something that actually related to them. But it actually worked out ok. That was my scriptural experience for the day, we ended up talking about baptism and everything.  Also, I gave Jahaira a blessing of health, using my bullet oil vial, so that was great.

Almost no one was home all day today. We contacted some good people in the morning, and then we went to this lady's house who is Catholic. I thought this lady had a ton of potential because she came to church, and she is actually reading the Book of Mormon, but she just has some other strange ideas that is keeping her from learning, and it is sad to see someone not progress in the Gospel.

We went to Julie's house again and had a family night with them. It was so funny, we were playing this game where you name a name, a fruit, a city, or whatever, that starts with a certain letter, but it was so hard to do in Spanish. But everyone was having such a good time. It was so great, and I hope we find more people in their homes to teach tomorrow.

Today was a pretty good day, but sometimes I feel like a family psychologist or counselor or something like that. Sometimes people just throw up information about all of their family problems for hours, and it's not a bad thing, but we're just listening to so many stories and problems. I just tell the people to pray, read the scriptures, and come to church. That is really what you do. Having faith in Christ, keeping the commandments, and doing all of these things give you the tools to be able to handle your trials and have peace.

Today we found this less active family with a 16 year old who is not baptized. He reminded me so much of me when I was that age. He and his mom were fighting quite a bit (like my mom and I used to butt heads). His mom wanted him to do all the right things, but he wanted to go out and learn from his own mistakes. I wish I could help him understand how things really are, that there's more to life than parties and women, and all of the super attractive things of the world. Don't get me wrong, I love having fun and things like that, but you have to put the God and Christ and the Gospel first to help you through life. So it was a good day.
