WEEK 34: PIMENTEL

June 27, 2019
We played soccer for P-day, and yeah soccer is fun and everything, but sometimes I'm tryna play football or rugby. I be missing that, and riding 4-wheelers and stuff like that, but it's all good.

Today we found these two brothers that live alone, and one is super intense, but they have really good questions. We taught them about the Restoration of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and gave them a Book of Mormon. They were saying how much sense our message made to them, so that was really great. I have been trying to talk to every single person I sit by on the bus or taxi, and it's been a good experience for me.

I found out they have Ramen Noodles here, they're called Aji-no-men. I have been starving in the evenings, so I bought a bunch of them and dang they're good.

Today was a good day, but Jose Silva told us he was leaving to Piura for like a month. So we won't get to teach him for a little while, and also his baptism fell through. But we are still finding a lot of good people. We went to a couple of lessons with Edwin Diaz, and he's so funny. We also had a lesson with the another good family, who always talks about wanting to change their lives, but it seems like they won't actually do anything about it. I hope they actually start doing all of these things, like reading the Book of Mormon and going to church because I know it will help them.

We were walking to a visit at a house today, and this guy yelled from the street "Senores! Hermanos!" and usually it is someone we know, like one of our investigators, but it was this guy in his Moto taxi. And he was like, yo I need help in my life, and he told us everything about his life and how he was looking for forgiveness. So we went to his house, which was so far away, and in a tiny room in the middle of nowhere, and he told us literally everything about his life. It is a good thing we have the Gospel of Jesus Christ to help him out. It is just really interesting how God puts you right where He wants you at the right time, because this man told us he was looking for two young men in white shirts and ties, because someone had told him that we could help. It was really good to see that happen.

We moved rooms from Fonavi to Pimentel and we found such a nice room. We had Intercambios and I went with Elder Whitworth, one of the Financial secretaries, and that went pretty good. It is super weird to be with a gringo actually, but we found a couple of families, and some really good people. We don't have anyone with a baptismal date yet, but we are working hard to find some. It is a little hard, but we are good here. Moving rooms was basically like changing to a different area because you have to pack up all your stuff, and two other sets of Elders came to help us take our stuff to our other place. They brought a cow truck, and we piled all of our stuff in it, and then we all got on top of our stuff to ride to Pimentel. Now we are here, and our room is way sick. We didn't have water here for a couple of days, and Elder De La Cruz couldn't handle it. It was the first time in his mission he has been without water for a day, but in Bagua we didn't have water or electricity for like three days at a time. It was super funny though because he was dying. We are on the 2nd floor and I have a huge window by my bed and it gets super cold at night and it's the best. We out here in Pimentel, and the pollo a la braza is here too.
