WEEK 37: PIMENTEL

June 20, 2019
We had Cambios and now we are working so good. My new companion, Elder Varas is so sick, he's literally the best. We are going to do some good things, but for now we have to sleep because we have been so busy.

Like I said before, we had changes, and I am so grateful for Elder Varas already. He is what a missionary is supposed to be. He doesn't care about anything except helping people and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He's from Bolivia, and he's super humble. He also has a sister on a mission in Bolivia. We have already done more work in a day than I was able to do with my last companion in a week, because we are out here as co-companions. God knows I have been needing someone like Elder Varas to refresh my view of the work. We have been here 2 days and have given a blessing of health, helped 5+ people in service and have visited tons of people. I already look up to Elder Varas, he's just has the energy and Light of Christ. He's crazy, super funny and I'm going to learn how to cook Bolivian food, we have already been cooking some good stuff. All Elder Varas wants to do is serve, and I look up to him and aspire to be a missionary like him. He's been out in the mission field 17 months, and came here from Bagua Chica, where I served with him before.

This last p-day, I got my hair cut soooo short. I told the dude that always cuts our hair that I only wanted the sides cut, but maybe it didn't translate in Spanish because he literally cut all of my hair with a size 1 guard, and shaved the sides of my head bald. I looked like a soldier, and now everyone calls me 'Army'.

But it's all good here. It's getting super cold now, and Elder Varas came from the hottest part of Bagua, so that was a change for him.

Almost all of our visits fell through today, and we were scheduled out the whole day, but there are always days when nothing happens, when no one is home, and nobody wants to answer their phones. But God always has something for you if you continue with Faith.

I'm starting to really love the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the scriptures, and to love Christ more. I don't know if I would have ever developed that love if I didn't come here on this mission. I'm grateful everyday that I am here, and we just have to work hard. Also, we have to work with the help of the Holy Ghost, because if we put our trust in our own arm, nothing will ever happen.
