WEEK 39: PIMENTEL

July 3, 2019
The last few days we have been really busy. On p-day we went to this place called Tottus and we bought like 350 sols of food for this upcoming month. Tottus is like Costco here and they have some really good food there.

I have been learning that no matter how much we teach the 'doctrine' of the Church, what matters most is that the person feels the Holy Ghost. We need to bear testimony as missionaries like 35 times a day. The logical aspects of the Gospel are important, but the Spirit and our testimony is the most important part in teaching the gospel.

I've been super feverish for the last couple of days, so I have been having the weirdest dreams. It's like all of my dreams are on LSD and Elder Varas says I have been saying the weirdest things at night. It got super cold in Pimentel the last couple of days, but all is good here.

We can't seem to get a date for baptism of Hermana Sandra, because the ambience of her house is super loco. We have tried about 10 things to try and distract her daughters, but some theories work and others don't. We brought candies and those worked, and then we brought bouncy balls, and that made them even more crazy. But we are going to persevere so we can help Sandra.

We had a good day today, and we are cooking burgers tonight so it should be good.

Today was a super powerful day. We had a ton of lessons so that was really great. We saw so many blessings today, the Lord is really helping us because we are trying to be obedient. I don't want to say anything bad about Elder De La Cruz, but it's so different now. Now I am not pulling the work and a companion, instead Elder Varas and I are both pulling the work together and running as fast as we are able. When we are doing this work at full speed, that is when it starts to get fun and you don't want anything other than the mission.

We have been teaching this Hermana named Olga who has developed a testimony of the Book of Mormon. She was reading and she said she was just crying and crying as she read. That is usually how I feel the Spirit too, it always makes me cry.

Elder Varas is the best, he has this little flute thing that he plays church songs on, and he always plays solitaire at night. But everything is so good. We cook pancakes in the mornings, and "hamburgers" in the nights. Last night we cooked some baked beans for the 4th of July (even though it was the 5th, we didn't have time to eat on the 4th), but I love America and Peru is pretty sweet too. Peru plays Brazil tomorrow and we are probably going to lose, but we still gotta have faith.

July 7, 2019
Peru lost to Brazil 3-1, but we already knew that was gonna happen.

Today we had seven people we are teaching come to church, and they were pretty much all new people, so that was really good. I'm learning that when the Spirit tells you to do something, you have to do it, or if the Spirit tells you to go talk to a certain person, you just have to do it. Because when you follow the Spirit and do what the Lord wants you to do, there are so many blessings that come.

Tomorrow is p-day and Elder Varas and I are gonna be teaching a little in the morning cause you always gotta stay up on the grind.
