WEEK 44: Remigio Silva
August 6, 2019
This past week was one of the craziest weeks I've ever had in this mission. I was in Jose Olaya right, and I was with Elder Navarrete for like six days, and he was already one of my best friends for life. We were having such a good time, it was like we were sangre (blood) and we had so much going on in our area. I don't have much time to write, but I was transferred again, and now I'm with Elder Lopes. He is from Brazil and I'm learning Portuguese, so that's tight.

Today I had an interview with Presidente, and he's amazing. It was really short, but so good. I went in and he asked me if I knew the reason why I changed areas, and I knew why. Because this is my chance to make a difference, to really change an area. I'm so excited for what we are about to do here.

This week was really sick, we did a lot of great things in our area and we have been working so hard. I've been learning Portuguese from Elder Lopes and he's been learning English. We switch off days, he speaks Portuguese only, and I'll speak English, and then I'll speak Portuguese and he'll speak English. If someone talks in Spanish they get shot with a Nerf gun (because we found Nerf guns in the room that we're in). Elder Lopes is literally the best, he has a real straight way to deal with the people and he's ready to work hard. He was baptized when he was 14 years old, and just now since he's been out for 5 months in the mission, his mom and brother have gotten baptized.
We have been working so hard finding some really good people to teach. We have been leaving our room at 8:00 in the morning and then coming back around 9:30 at night. We have been working so hard both Elder Lopes and I got sick. Elder Lopes had a crazy fever one night, and he woke me up to give him a blessing. He was shaking pretty bad, and had on his big winter coat. But he has so much faith. After I gave him the blessing he got up, took off his coat, and he said "I'm not cold anymore" and he went to bed. When he woke up the next morning he wasn't sick anymore, and his fever was gone. I look up to Elder Lopes a lot, he's the best.
We are getting to know all of this area, picking up the broken pieces here. We really have some good people the last Elders left for us to teach. We found Hillary, an 18 year old girl who has accepted to be baptized on August 31st.
We really are being guided by the Spirit, because we really don't know where the heck we are most of the time. We are still trying to find the chosen people here, but we're working so hard. We've seen a lot of improvement in just a week. We really be working like crazy out here.
This area is also super wack, cause there's a lot of drugs here. There's a big statue of Jesus on the hill, and all the houses around are crack houses. It's funny because the closer you get to the Jesus statue, the more dangerous the people are. Everyone says yoooo y'all gotta be careful in this zone, but I've never had problems with anybody. Everything is so good here.
Our house here is so big it's like a penthouse, but Peru-style. Our pensions also super cool tambem. But hey we really good out here, living the life, chilling, working hard, love y'all.
