WEEK 63: Lambayeque
December 16, 2019
This whole week we have had no time to do anything really. We have been working and doing a lot of Intercambios. This week we had exchanges with Motupe and MochumÃ. I love seeing the teaching style of other elders and helping them improve their areas.
But Elder Navarrete and I are back working now. We really are homies. He always wants to trade for all my stuff, and he begs and adds so many things to barter, and then we finally trade. And then he complains that it wasn't a fair trade. But it's so funny.
Yesterday we had a lot of people come to church, and we are really excited for this upcoming week.

We have been seeing a lot of miracles this week. We were going to visit these two people that have a baptism date set for next week, and when we got to their house, there were two Jehovah's witness ladies in there teaching them. That's always interesting. So we stood by their window and were listening to what they were teaching our people, and they were talking about how baptism really isn't that important and other things. We were thinking about how we would have to backtrack a little and answer all of the questions that these ladies put in their heads, so when they left, we came in and said a good prayer. Lucy's daughter was asking us about their belief that only 144,000 people are saved and other things, and I could tell my companion was getting a little frustrated about responding to all of their questions, so I cut in and just shared my testimony. And it went really well, their questions were forgotten in the remembrance of the truthfulness of the message. Then we were able to talk about answers that they received while they were at church, and that really reminded me that an answer can be received anytime at any place. And even though the Jehovah's Witnesses were in their home 30 mins earlier telling them all sorts of different things, Lucy was still very firm in her decision to be baptized. That was awesome. When the Holy Ghost is present, it is really obvious that there is no competitor to the Lord's message.
Also, Kevin is the best. We have been teaching him for about a month, and he told us today that he wants to serve a mission, which made me really happy. He is going to the jungle for Christmas, but when he comes back he will get baptized. A couple weeks ago, we fasted with Kevin and he said that really helped him gain a testimony that the Church was true. He went around with us to a bunch of visits tonight. I really hope I don't get changed from this area before I get to see Kevin baptized.
These days I've been giving a lot of Book of Mormons to the people, like just in the street, and it's been great. The Book of Mormon is the only truth that is worth anything, because a lot of times, everyone is so confused at all the the other things out there.
Another lady who we have been teaching, who had a lot of issues, went to church this last Sunday. And we promised her that her problems would improve if she went to church. And it happened, we found her today and she is doing awesome and has improved a lot. Now she wants to get baptized and enter into the fold of God.
Everything is going amazing. I remember a long time ago in my third change with Elder Quispe in Bagua, when I asked him the most important thing that he'd learned in his mission, he said "To have hope." I'm really seeing how having hope unto faith, and faith unto works, really helps us. I love this area and my sangre (blood), Elder Navarrete. We really be blood. We got the same blood in our veins. We out here working, and God blesses us mucho (a lot). Haz las obras de Jesus de Nazareth (do the works of Jesus of Nazareth).
