WEEK 70: Lambayeque
February 5, 2020
We had planned some really sweet lessons today, and we were sure that we would teach a lot, instead of contact all day, but all of our lessons fell through. So we were just wandering around contacting, and we saw this house that we had contacted a while ago, and felt we should go back. The lady that lived there was very interested and basically looking for the true church. She seems to be so chosen and interested, and we were able to teach her about the Gospel. We have been praying a long time for this, and we are really grateful to have found her. My companion and I are pretty experienced with teaching, but it seems like we have a hard time finding people to teach in the first place. But God helped us today and the Spirit was present and strong during the lesson with Fatima. A lot of times, God guides us and we don't even realize it.

Well, it turns out Fatima isn't interested anymore. She talked to her brother about anti-stuff or something, and she doesn't want us to teach her anymore. It is really sad, but also really funny. It just goes to show that you always, always need to keep your faith and hopes up. Especially when you find what you think is a break, and you feel like you've finally reached the point where anything can happen.
Today we had a good day. We have been contacting for five days straight, but we feel the love of Christ, and we are just doing all we can. There's been some really cool things happening too, like this military man we taught a long time ago read his Book of Mormon like crazy, marking up all the pages and everything. We are hoping that he and his family will be able to progress in the Gospel.
Tomorrow is the last p-day of my companion, Elder Navarrete, and he still doesn't realize that he's leaving in a week to go home. Everything is really good here in Lambayeque.

I have been enjoying all the work you are doing. I new you would make a great missionary and that has been proven. I am so happy for you. I do miss you, but I am glad you are there. I am looking forward to your coming home. I love you and your family and am so glad that I have been able to know all of you. By for now. Love Sister Burkey
