WEEK 73: LAMBAYEQUE

February 25, 2020
Today we had a district council, and it was really amazing. The assistants came, and they did a training that was so awesome, and it's going to really help with our people.

Elder Lugo and I have been trying so hard to improve the results in our area but we were coming up on a lot of challenges. I have felt really strange, like I couldn't do the work as easily as I could before, like there was something impeding me from doing everything in the work. But today, we had an Intercambio with Mochumi, and I was with Elder Johnson from Herriman, and it has really changed the way I see the work. I know God helps us, but sometimes we have to be patient for when that help comes. Like today, we have been praying to have the opportunity to teach the family of a girl we've been teaching. We were walking to her house, and we needed someone to accompany us to be able to enter the house, and we already had called several members, and no one could come. But as we were walking towards the house, we saw this member on the street that is super cool, and he was able to come with us de la nada (like nothing), and then we were able to teach her. Well, we could never teach her whole family because her mom always stayed in the back rooms, but while we were teaching today, their bathroom flooded, so their mom came out and we were able to talk with her and help them and serve them. Because of this, she was able to open up to us.

Also, we were able to find another perfect lady that we have started to teach. We're loving the work, and it's really late.

The rest of this week has gone super crazy. We found this girl named Estefani, who was literally perfect, and she accepted a baptismal date. But it fell through because she couldn't come to church today. Also, we were preparing another family to be able to come to Church, but they couldn't come either. But, by the grace of God, we had four other visitors in church today.

We finally decided to visit members to try and find references from them, and to stop just wandering around in the streets. And we actually had some awesome references given to us. We are trying to be better missionaries, and we are trying to be more obedient. Elder Lugo is awesome, and he's really inspired me to work smarter and better with the Spirit. Today, we met with the mom of Hilary, the girl we just baptized, and now her mom wants to get baptized too.

Also, when we were on Intercambio with Elder Johnson, we were walking around and we passed a family that we had contacted before, and they were all like women of 45 years or older, and they called us over. And we went over, but when we got to their house, the first thing they said was "que Guapo" (how handsome) and then the ladies started to swarm Elder Johnson and one was asking him for a kiss on the cheek, and it was so funny, so we got right out of there super quick.
