WEEK 36: PIMENTEL
June 10, 2019
Today we went to the offices for P-day and played volleyball and futbol for a long time, like we do every p-day. That was pretty much all we did today. I Face-timed the fam, and was able to see Grandma and Grandpa Huff, so that was cool. Also, I was able to email Ben (my cousin who is also serving a mission in Peru), so that was super sick. We were chatting only in Spanish, which was pretty tight.
All is good in our area. We had a really good lesson about the Book of Mormon, and I'm finding that you really learn a lot about your own testimony when you share it with other people. We were able to teach a man named Manuel, and he's a clown. I really hope he feels the truth, and has the desire to get baptized. I hope all these people catch on to the importance of this message we are sharing.

Today we didn't have a ton of lessons, but we contacted a lot of people. We were able to find some new people to teach, including this family of three that seem really interested in learning more about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They are doing really good, but the problem is they sell ceviche on Sunday, so they don't have time to come to church. So I made her a promise that if she goes to church this week, she would sell all of her ceviche on Sunday in the afternoon. One thing we can do as missionaries is promise blessings in the name of Jesus Christ, so now it's up to her and her faith. Because I know that if she comes to church, she will sell everything. It's all about faith.

Today we had a multi-zone meeting, and Elder Mathias Held came with his wife to speak. It was good to hear from someone from the Quorum of the Seventy, but when Presidente Balderrama and his wife spoke, they had the best message I have ever heard. Hermana Balderrama spoke about the Atonement and being disciples of Christ, and Presidente taught us about what we need to have in our hearts and in our nature to work with perfect diligence. It was so good.
The rest of the day was great, we were able to teach Sandra a lesson. We tried something new, because she has two girls who are really young (and are so cute with curly hair), but they are always interrupting and running around and screaming. So Elder De La Cruz kept them occupied by showing them pictures from the Gospel art kit, while I was able to teach Sandra about the Book of Mormon. I invited her to get baptized on the 29th of June, and she accepted. I felt the Spirit so strong, helping me know what to say and what to ask to help her feel the Holy Ghost as well. I am just grateful to be working here and with Hermana Sandra.

Today was a really good day. We left the house on time today to teach some pretty good lessons. I could probably count on one hand the number of times we have left our room on time, but I really appreciate it when we do.
We have this really good family we are teaching, they are married and have two kids, but the problem is getting them to church. The mom sells food on Sunday in the morning, and thinks it is impossible to be able to come. So we shared everything we could, scriptures, promises, testimony, everything, and they still didn't want to come to church. But it's all good, we still have next week. And it was a really good day.

Today we left almost on time again to our lessons, but we had some Jehovah's Witnesses knock on our door while we were planning. So yeah of course we're gonna Bible bash for a little while. When someone comes on your home field, you gotta put up some resistance. So we fought over things of the Bible for like 30 minutes, and it was a pretty big waste of time. We've been running into so many Jehovah's Witnesses lately, and I don't know why. Even this baker lady we bought bread from was one.
Today, we didn't have a lot of lessons with people because nobody was home. But we contacted a lot of people, so that was good. The work is good, and we finally made rice that was pretty much perfect. We are still working on the other stuff, but rice is half the battle.

It was a great day today, but we only had one investigator come to church today. We left to go find Sandra, and she was ready to go, she just had to cook food for her family. We had faith that she would come, so we left church, took a combi to Pimentel and brought her to church to help her out.
Also, today was Father's Day, so everyone was drunk and partying, but we were contacting a lot anyways.
And also, we got some news - Elder De La Cruz is changing to another area. We are going to have so much more work here, we are going to do everything. My new companion is from Bolivia and his name is Elder Varas. He's so tight, we were in Bagua together, and I'm so excited and thankful to the Lord for this change.
