WEEK 49: Remigio Silva

September 11, 2019
Today was a really good day. I am with my new companion and he is way sick. He's got three days in Peru, he's from Springville, Utah, and his parents are from Mexico. His name is Elder Gomez, and he's pretty great. He already speaks Spanish but he's a little afraid to contact.

Today I felt the love of God during a lesson. I felt like He was watching me and He loves me. Elder Gomez is already an instrument in the hands of the Lord. He shares things really simply, and he only talks for a little bit, but his experiences really invite the Holy Ghost into our discussions. He was kind of having a hard day, but it's only his third day so you gotta give him a break. But he's doing really good.

Today Elder Gomez made some really good contacts. He's doing great. We were running around because we had four interviews for baptism, and we got all of them done. That was a huge blessing from God, because it was crazy getting all four of the people there. And God blessed Elder Garcia for coming to our area three different times to give the baptismal interviews. We're so excited to baptize these amazing people tomorrow. I have really come to love them, and I am so happy to see the changes they have made.

Yesterday Elisa and the two sons of Carlos were baptized. It was such a crazy day, but it is one I'll never forget. We were going to baptize Thomas also, but his Great-Grandpa died, so he was busy at his funeral.

We had two baptismal services. Elisa was baptized at 3:00pm, and she was pretty worried about how she was going to hold on to my arm and get lifted out of the water. But she got in and I baptized her like nothing. She was so happy, and I have really been blessed to be able to get to know Elisa.

Later at 6:00pm Joseph and Carlos were baptized, and their dad came. That was probably one of the biggest miracles, that their dad came. He's a member that is not active at all and he's pretty embarrassed to come to the church. But he came to their baptism yesterday and today he came to their confirmation too. That was really great. We were just praying and praying for their dad to come and it happened. Also, their baptism was so crazy. We didn't have another priesthood holder, so we called the first counselor and he was at the bank, but he came super fast so we could have another witness at the baptism. But they all got baptized and everything was crazy. The whole day yesterday was rushed but I was so happy. It was a really good day. Thomas is probably going to have to get baptized in Argentina because he's leaving this week.

Today was also a good day. We had a face-to-face with Elder Ulisses Soares, but it was kinda lame. Nah, just kidding, it was great. Later at one point when we were walking around contacting, Elder Gomez told me, "hey, follow me..." The whole night we were looking for someone to teach, and Elder Gomez picked a door and the guy that answered let us in, and we were able to teach him a lesson. So that was way cool to see Elder Gomez led by the Spirit.
