WEEK 23: BAGUA GRANDE
March 11, 2019
Today I'm starting to write in my journal by hand. I've been writing on my keyboard, and it's been good but it would be nice to have all of this written down. It's a good idea to write things down so that my kids can read this in my handwriting, or maybe this will help someone else in the future. I will write more soon.

We are teaching some amazing people. They are all so good and one man has a strong testimony already. He is 82 years old, but he is so funny. There was a cat on the roof of his house while we were teaching him and he starting yelling "Fuera de satanás!" which means "Out Satan!" hahaha He's blind in one eye and so old, but he really has the light of Christ.

Yesterday we had Intercambios and I went to proselyte with Elder Wilson. He has five or six days left in the mission and it's interesting to see how he acts. He's pretty sad because he doesn't want to go home, and I can understand that. I get sad even thinking about leaving the mission field.
Elder Quispe is the best, and we've eaten pollo a la braza the last four or five nights because we are spending all the money that we have left over from not having a pensionista.

We are waiting for pollo roaster because we are so hungry, and this is our seventh straight day of eating either pollo broaster or pollo a la braza. I love this mission and this area and I really don't want to leave. We have two really good families that we could help so much, and I want to be here to help them. One lady we were teaching had a friend that was saying bad things to her about the Church, so she doesn't want to listen to us anymore, and it makes me really sad. She really needs our help, but she has her agency and there's lots of other people that need the Gospel that we can teach. Today we had two cars in the parking lot of the Church because one of our investigators brought one. That is a record because no one drives cars here, there is usually only one car in the parking lot on Sunday.
Today was a good day, we went to this man's house who has three daughters, and no esposa, but we walked up and they were drinking some chichi de Jora, which is a drink made from corn that is sometimes alcoholic. We went in, and it turns out it didn't have alcohol, so they offered some to us to drink as well. It was nice to talk and visit, and then we were able to teach a powerful lesson to them. So that made it a really good day.
