WEEK 51: Remigio Silva

There's a lot happening here in our area. We are finding so many really good people and I've been talking with them so much about eternal families. I feel like every person I talk to, I teach them about how we can be together forever as a family and it's really powerful. Also I feel a lot of love for the people when you just talk about the family. Today I contacted this lady with a picture of the temple of Trujillo and she was so interested. I felt the Spirit telling her that she can receive the most blessings possible in this world there in that temple.
Two days ago we had an intercambio with Jose Quinones, and Elder Oldroyd came here. Sometimes you really just need someone to inspire you a little bit and we've been having a really hard time finding new people. So I think I was losing a little faith. But he came and showed me how a real servant of the Lord works. Since then I feel like I'm on fire. I really love this work. The only way to be completely happy in this work is to have success and the only way to have success is to follow the Spirit.
Elder Oldroyd is a great elder. He's got some really great goals in life. I think about my own goals too. Not a lot, but sometimes. The mission is critical for forming the rest of your life. But Elder Oldroyd is a good friend. He's from Highland, Utah.
Elder Gomez was having a pretty hard time yesterday. So we talked a little, prayed a little, and then we called Presidente so that he could help us out. Elder Gomez just has a little stress at times. But Presidente came to our room and sat at my desk and I love him so much. Everything is good here. I just wish I could help my companion in a better way.

Today we only had four people come to church, but it turned out to be a really good day. We were walking around looking for a couple of people after our lessons all fell through. We were about to leave, but I thought, yeah we gotta go knock on this house here (just to see that no one's there?) but we went ahead and knocked on this door and this old guy answered. He was a little cold at first, but we started talking to him and we asked him if we could come in and share a five minute message with him and his family. We left two hours later. We explained all of lesson one and watched a message from the Prophet, and they were understanding everything. And they loved it. It really was a miracle to find this family. It is always crazy to see how God works, because He really does work.
Also today we found out that a less-active family has an illegal pet monkey in their house. So that's super cool. It's so tiny and it climbs on your shoulder.
